WELCOME !

Welcome friends, old and new, known and unknown! It has been my desire to share with you how the Lord is working in my life as I serve the Lord on the mission field of Kabwe, Zambia. There is an old black and white movie called The African Queen. It is about a boat that travels down river. This blog is not about a boat. It is however, about my travels on the mission field of Kabwe, Zambia. By the way, did you know that my name means queen. For many years I have been burdened for souls in Africa. That is why some of my friends call me African Queen.

Health Update & Dr Office Photos

I want to thank the Lord that I am not in the pain that I was in last Saturday.
He has brought my body from a place of emergency with an infection that was taking over  the body and quickly turning life threatening, to a place or stability.
No, I am not 100 % better.
It will take weeks to get back to "normal".
The infection sight has decreased from the size of a tennis ball to the size of a gumball,
but my lymphnodes are still swollen and causing pain
(which is a sign that my body is still working overtime to fight off infection).
The Doc has given me another round of antibiotics,
in hopes of preventing the infection from coming back full force.
I greatly appreciate your prayers.

For those of you who are curious, I took a few pictures of the Dr. Office that I go to.

The building to the left is my Dr's Office
This is the view of the entrance from my car on the street.

When you come in, you go to the desk and write your name on a piece of cardboard (from a cereal box), and then the woman takes it to the doctor to write on.  As you can see from the box in front of her, they saw many patients that day.

When I am called, I walk back this hallway.
This lady cleans everyday and wanted me to take her picture too.
Here is the bed that I lay on for my IV antibiotic injections.  This past week I had to have 1 IV & 1 IM injection everyday.  The antibiotic for the IV injection is painful and very strong and has to be administered over a 10 minute period.
That is, after they find a new vein to puncture - fun!
This is the nurse (or as they call her here "the Sister") who gave the IM injections and assisted the Dr. with the IV injections.  My doctor is a very humble man and was camera shy.  I praise the Lord for his knowledge of medicine and for his hard work attending to all of the sick, feeble, and diseased people in Kabwe.
I honestly do not know I would have done without him.

Going to the hospital

Just a quick update for all of you.
This morning I will be leaving for the hospital.
A terrible staph infection has set into my body causing unbearable pain and fever.
After seeing our town doctor and receiving antibiotics and pain killers; it has only spread, rather than getting better.
It is about a 2 1/2 hr drive to the hospital.
Praise the Lord for people from church who have volunteered to drive me.
Please pray that the doctors will know how to treat it appropriately and that the infection will spread no further.
Thanks,
Gina
