Welcome friends, old and new, known and unknown! It has been my desire to share with you how the Lord is working in my life as I serve the Lord on the mission field of Kabwe, Zambia. There is an old black and white movie called The African Queen. It is about a boat that travels down river. This blog is not about a boat. It is however, about my travels on the mission field of Kabwe, Zambia. By the way, did you know that my name means queen. For many years I have been burdened for souls in Africa. That is why some of my friends call me African Queen.

My Right Hand

The day after our second school semester ended,
I feel down the stairs at church and broke my hand.

My fourth metacophal broken

I was counting down the days for the semester to be over
so that I would have more free time to work at the house I am moving to.

God had other plans.

Here in Zambia, it is not always easy to get proper care.

It wasn't until 2 days after I fell that I was able to get a doctor to put a cast on it.

A few days later, my hand was not looking right.
It had turned green and I had no feeling in it.
Time for a second opinion.

The second opinion led to another doctor cutting off the first cast
and manipulating my hand into a fiberglass cast.
He said, "I will see you 6 weeks from now".

That meant I would be in a cast my entire time off school and into the next semester.
My heart sank, at the time I did not know how hard it would really be.

My right hand is my dominate hand, I use it for EVERYTHING!

Have you ever tried taking a shower with one hand,
opening a tube of toothpaste with one hand,
opening a bottle with one hand,
cutting up vegetables with one hand,
doing your hair with one hand,...???
Some of those things are, or are nearly, impossible.

How was I going to get by?
What was I going to do?
Oh, how I wished my mother could come and help me get washed, dressed,...SURVIVE!

Jill helping me to bake.

I praise the Lord for sending along people to be my right hand.
Precious' children and I sharing hugs and getting ready for a Saturday game.

Ladies from church helped me wash my hair,
some teen girls would help me do things like brush my hair, carry things, etc.,

My friend, Nathasha and I working on a church project together.
(she had to be very patient with my slow left hand)
...children from my Footsteps of Faith Club
helped me color some visuals for the next school semester,
and even my little ones at school helped me to do things.

I have learned a lot through this.

It has brought me to a place where I had to humble myself,
it has taught me to ask others for help,
and has again reminded me that my relationship with God is all I need.

He is always so good to me!

Psalm 16:8
"I have set the LORD always before me:
because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved."

On Friday, September 18th, my cast came off!!!

My hand had no feeling in it and looked very odd.

The doctor says it still has a good break in the middle,
but the outsides of the bone is beginning to heal.

As you can see, I still have a long way to go.
My 3rd and 4th finger have rotated so that they lie separated,
and my pinky folds under the rest of my fingers.
Please pray with me about wisdom in what to do about this, therapy if needed,
and the pain in my wrist to subside.

This year has been a trying year for my health,
but as we know from Scripture,
"when I am weak,"... He makes me strong.

A Soothing Cup of Tea

After the funerals for our dear friends: Precious
and later the next week, Mrs Champo,
The ladies from our church were in great need of some encouragement.

Precious'funeral: her coffin coming through the doorway.

We had lost two woman who were godly and faithful.

In our ministries, we are praying for God to raise up ladies to fill the gap we now have.

We are also praying that the example they left behind, will be followed by others.

Their examples of loving God with all their hearts,
being faithful to all church services and activities,
loving their husbands and families,
encouraging other believers,
helping those who are in need,
and the list goes on,....

Yes, we needed a time of reflection, as well as, a boost in our spirits.

Because of this, it was perfect timing for a Ladies Tea and Fellowship.

Below are a few pictures of our time together in fellowship with each other
and fellowship through His Word.

Proverbs 15:13
"A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance:
but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken."

Saturday Footsteps of Faith Club

Blind Volleyball
Our Saturday Footsteps of Faith Club is one of my favorite ministries!

Making cards for our pastor.
Saturdays, are days when our faithful members and their families
come out to serve the Lord by going out visiting in our area.
The ladies go out on visitation at 1pm and the men at 2pm every week.

Bible memory
While they are all out visiting, I teach a Footsteps of Faith Club f
or all of the children 5-13 yrs old.

Since our children's Sunday School can get as high as 250 per Sunday,
we wanted to take advantage of a time when we could invest in the faithful few.
It would be a time when we really dig into the Word of God.

This club is designed to teach the faithful children
(next generation of our church) - Bible doctrine and godly character.

Since January, I have taught through all of the Bible doctrines
and now we are working on church etiquette and godly character traits.

Game time
Every week, we start with game time.
This is fun for me to get to know the kids better, plus it teaches them some new things.

One of the young ladies that I am training to teach.
After that, we go into our classroom for song time,...

Review game

...Bible memory, review game, Bible lesson, and missionary story.

Coloring visuals for school

This group of faihtful kids also helped me to color some visuals for my school class,
while I did not have use of my right hand.

When you serve the Lord, you always ask God to use you and to be a blessing to those you minister to, then you find that they also become a blessing to you.

Three Girls Saved!

{Left to Right}   Sheila (my helper) talking with 2 girls who accepted Christ.

Over the last two weeks, three girls have been saved in my 11-13 year old Sunday School class.
This is very exciting, because we have been teaching on what sin is and how it separates us from God.  The girls have now responded to the lessons I am currently teaching about faith.

During the month of August, we will have special services every Sunday.
Please pray for me, as I prepare the lessons.
I will be teaching through the Book of Ruth,
as well as, giving Biblical tips on what a godly relationship between a boy and girl looks like.
Pray that God would help me to explain the Scriptures in a way that they will understand,
be challenged by it, and respond in obedience to it.

I can't wait to see what the Lord will do!

"For the love of money is the root of all evil:
which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith,
and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
I Timothy 6:10

On June 22-25, 2015, we had our first Teen VBS.

Everyday, we sang songs, played games and had a skit.

The workers did a wonderful job portraying their characters.

Each story showed that world gain will pass away,
but God's will gives treasure in Heaven.

Jim Hunt did a wonderful job preaching to the kids
and James Silwamba taught a missionary story.

We are so thankful for these young men to serve as leaders in our church
and for the wonderful group of teenagers who are
becoming more and more faithful to services.

Father's Day Service

For Father's Day, we honored the father's in our church.
It was a blessing to see men stand up who were the oldest fathers, father's with the most children present at church and the father with the youngest child there.

God has blessed our church with some good and godly men who lead thier homes for Christ!
