WELCOME !

Welcome friends, old and new, known and unknown! It has been my desire to share with you how the Lord is working in my life as I serve the Lord on the mission field of Kabwe, Zambia. There is an old black and white movie called The African Queen. It is about a boat that travels down river. This blog is not about a boat. It is however, about my travels on the mission field of Kabwe, Zambia. By the way, did you know that my name means queen. For many years I have been burdened for souls in Africa. That is why some of my friends call me African Queen.

Missing You...

There's no place like home, there's no place like home...

While "home" can be both a broad and generalized term, there really is no place like it.

Where is your home? - what country?  what state? what kind of house? who lives with you?

As a missionary, I have a number of places I call "home".  Sometimes it seems like no place is home, because of the amount of moving around that you do.

Regardless of that, right now I call Kabwe, Zambia my home.

Since being away for about 8 weeks, there are things I have grown to miss.

I miss:
- the bright African sun rising to greet me each morning as I walk out to open the gate
- my happy dogs jumping to greet me as I do my morning chores
- my Bemba helpers who meet me every day with smiling faces and a willingness to help
- the crow of my handsome red rooster and the clucking of the hens as they lead thier chicks around the yard
- singing songs in the car with the children on the way to school
- the boys hiding behind the gate at school waiting to jump out and suprise me
- telling Bible Stories to my preschoolers
- receiving hugs, tugs on my skirt, and sweet little voices telling me stories
- beautiful clear skies
- harmonious singing with God's people in church, both in English and Bemba
- lunches with friends
- walking in the bush with my "sister"
- horseback riding on Saturdays
- deep discussions on faith and trials with some of the dear ladies
- tea times
- teaching in my various ministries
- foreign greetings
- a simpler way of life
- watching the birds from my veranda
- beautiful and very colorful sunsets
- night sounds of crickets, beetles, birds, and owls

Even though I am glad to me in American, my other "home", these are the things that I am missing.
